Hunter Safety System recalled carabiners included with their HSS 300 Ultra Lite Harness on Tuesday due to the carabiners not meeting company safety standards. The company is strongly suggesting the return of all carabiners included with the harnesses.

The company stated there have been no reported incidents or injuries associated with faulty carabiners, but recent tests revealed that "the carabiner gate retention pins can inadvertently detach, permitting the carabiner gate to open and creating the possibility of the treestrap or lineman’s climbing strap to release from the carabiner, thereby allowing the user to fall."

All carabineers that are returned will be replaced and shipped free of charge.

The company has been contacting dealers and consumers who have purchased the model harness in question. The UPC code for the item is 8-59540-00083-0. Users can contact Hunter Safety System at (877) 296-3528 to coordinate an exchange.

This is a potential safety defect. If you own one of these Treestand Systems, return it as soon as possible.
