The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently requested Toyota recall an addition 2.2 million Lexus and Toyota vehicles due to alleged floor mat and accelerator pedal issues.

The models involved in the recall are 2006 and early 2007 Lexus GS vehicles (20k), 2004 through 2006 and early 2007 Lexus RX vehicles (372k), 2009 through 2011 Lexus LX vehicles (17k), 2004 through 2006 Toyota Highlanders (397k), 2003 through 2009 Toyota 4Runners (603k), and 2006 through 2010 Toyota RAV4s (761k).

Several of the recalls indicate that the repair necessary will involve modifying the "shape of the plastic pad embed on the driver’s side floor carper" and to "address floor matts." Additionally, the Lexus RX and Toyota Highlander vehicles will need to have retention clips replaced/repaired/modified.
