Target Corporation of Minneapolis, Minnesota, in conjunction with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, recently announced a voluntary recall of approximately 304,000 Select Brands Chefmate® blenders it sold from September 2007 through February 2011. The blenders are the Chefmate® 6-Speed Blenders, model BL-10, and were sold for about $14 exclusively at Target stores throughout the United States. While in operation, the plastic pitcher can separate from the blade assembly, leaving the blade assembly in the base and exposing the rotating blades. This poses a laceration hazard to consumers.
The recalled blenders were manufactured in China by Select Brands (of Lenaxa, Kansas). The blenders have a white electrical base which is six-inches tall with five, white speed-selector buttons labeled 1 through 5, a gray button labeled "Pulse/Off" and the word "Chefmate®" in black letters on the front. The model number BL-10 is located on the bottom of the base. The blender also includes a clear plastic pitcher labeled with U.S. and metric volume measurement markings; a white plastic lid with a removable clear plastic stopper; and a white plastic blade assembly with two angled, stainless steel blades.
To-date, Target has received 11 complaints of the blade assembly separating from the blender pitcher, including seven reports of serious lacerations to consumers’ hands.
Consumers are urged to cease using the blenders and return them to any Target store for a full refund. Consumers may contact Target by calling (800) 440-0680 or by visiting the company’s website at www.target.com

It seems that, based upon the large number of recalls seen, that inferior and dangerous products manufactured in China are repeatedly being dumped on our markets in the U.S. 304,000 Bad blenders (from 2007-2011) should give us a little hint, and yet another example.
