According to a recent article in the online version of The Detroit Free Press, Honda has announced it will recall 748,000 Pilot and Odyssey vehicles due to a problem with driver-side airbags. Apparently, some rivets which normally would secure the airbag covers are missing so that the airbags may not properly deploy in the event of a crash and may even increase the possibility of injury.

The model years of Pilot SUVs affected by this problem are from 2009 through 2013; the Odyssey model years affected by this airbag problem were from 2011 through 2013.

To date, Honda says no injuries have been reported in relation to the missing airbag cover rivets, but Honda plans to notify owners beginning in February to take their vehicles to a Honda dealer on receipt of the mail notification.
