Ford is recalling 2012 Model Year crossovers it manufactured from Sept. 2, 2010, through Oct. 31, 2011. The Edge models included in the recall – 5,499 in total — are equipped with 2.0-liter engines.
The problem appears to be the housing of the fuel line pulse damper which may crack. Ford reports that it is a manufacturing defect. The cracks may cause fuel leaks when the fuel system is under pressure. Obviously, fuel is not designed to escape the fuel system because the risk of fire is increased when it does.
This is a safety-related defect. If you have one of these vehicles, take it to your nearest Ford dealer. Customers may contact Ford Motor Co. at 866-436-7332
