Drop-side cribs once again prove to be problematic. An article by The Associated Press on abcnews.com explains that around 1,000 "Diane" cribs were recalled because "slats on the drop-side can detach from the top and bottom rails, posing fall and entrapment hazards to the child". This incident has been reported 18 times, however there are no known injuries. The cribs were sold at various stores from September 2002 through December 2005. For more details, call 877-728-0342 or visit www.cpsc.gov. In the meantime, discontinue use of drop-side cribs! In my opinion, this style of crib is extremely dangerous. There have been numerous recalls of this drop side crib design with different manufacturers. Go to the CPSC site referenced in this article to determine if your drop-side crib has been recalled.
