Over 200,000 Hyundai SUVs may be affected by an air bag problem, causing Hyundai to recall them. [1][1] The Hyundai Santa Fe SUVs being recalled are those in model years 2007 through 2009. The Hyundai air bags weren’t deploying (in the event of a crash) when adults weighing less than 130 lbs. were seated in the passenger seat. Thus far, no injuries have been reported due to this problem, but some owners had raised the issue to the company’s attention. This is, however, a safety related defect.

In addition, 22,500 Sonata sedans, model years 2012 and 2013, are being recalled by Hyundai due to a side air bag malfunction causing the air bags to deploy without warning. The company had received 16 complaints but no reports of injuries due to the problem.

Owners of the affected model years of Hyundai Santa Fe’ and Sonata who have questions about these recalls are urged to call Hyundai at 1-800-633-5151.
