Check Your Child’s Toy Box for This Radio Flyer™ Scoot n’ Zoom

Comments Off

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has just announced that Radio Flyer (yes, the very same maker of the old favorite snow sled) has voluntarily recalled 165,000 of its Radio Flyer riding toys called “Scoot n’ Zoom” Model 711. Because this toy can tip over easily, it is a fall hazard for children who ride it.

Radio Flyer of Chicago, Illinois, the manufacturer and distributor, has received ten incident reports of injuries to children, including falls that have caused chin lacerations, loosened teeth and some of which required stitches.

The riding toy is made of red molded plastic and has black wheels. It is19 inches in length (from front to back), 11 inches wide and 13.5 inches tall. The model number 711 can be found on the underside of the toy. Riding toys with a yellow UPC sticker on the underside labeled "model number 711B" are not recalled.

This toy was sold at retail stores throughout the United States, including Walmart, and online at Amazon.com and Target.com for approximately $20.

Consumers should immediately remove the toy from a child’s play area, and no longer allow children to play with this toy. Consumers may contact Radio Flyer at (800) 621-7613 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, or visit the company’s website at: www.radioflyer.com to arrange to receive a replacement toy or refund. Consumers should be reminded that it is illegal to sell or attempt to re-sell any product or toy which has been recalled.
