Stand Back! Master Forge Gas Grills Might BBQ You

Comments Off

No matter how great a grill chef you are, please pay attention to this recall: 37,000 Master Forge Gas Grills manufactured by Guangdong Vanward Electric Co., Ltd., of China, and imported by L G Sourcing, Inc., of North Wilkesboro, N.C., are being voluntarily recalled due to a fire and burn hazard.

If not correctly installed, the hose which connects the gas tank and regulator to the burner control can touch the burner box and cause the hose to melt and rupture when the grill is lit, posing a fire and burn hazard. Two reports of hoses melting have been received by the manufacturer—no injuries have yet been reported.

The recall is for the four-burner gas grills with a single-door base. The grill’s hood bears the name, "Master Forge". The model number of the grill is GD4825 and the Item Number 94227 can be found on the cover of the instruction manual.

The gas grills were sold by Lowe’s throughout the country from November 2011 through May 2012 for approximately $270. According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, owners should immediately stop using the grill, and inspect it to determine that the gas hose runs on the outside of the grill cabinet and passes through the round hole in the side panel. Consumers may contact Guangdong Vanward Electric to obtain corrected instructions and a warning label to apply to the grill, showing how to correctly install the hose and regulator.

Consumers may also contact Guangdong Vanward Electric toll-free on 1(888)584-3648 from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, or visit the firm’s recall website www.94227info.com To view photos of the Master Forge Grills being recalled, visit www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml13/13028.html
