Little Tikes Toys Recalled Due to Choking Hazard

Comments Off

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) in cooperation with Little Tikes of Hudson, Ohio, recently announced an expanded recall of 1.7 million Little Tikes® Workshop toy tool sets and trucks. This recall is due to a choking hazard to young children involving toy nails. The company previously received two reports of choking incidents (prior to an earlier recall due to problems with toy nails) where children had to be treated in hospital. More than 1.6 million similar workshop sets and trucks were recalled in August 2009.

This particular recall involves toy nails sold as part of 11 models of Little Tikes® Workshop and tool sets (listed below). The toy nails are oversized, plastic, and about

3-1/4 inches long by 1-1/4 inches in diameter. The nails come in red or blue and have a large round head and a plastic ridge which is slightly smaller than the nail head and about an inch in diameter. The model number may be found on some of the products.

These toy tool sets and trucks were sold at mass merchandisers throughout the U.S. from 1990 to 2004, for from $25 to $100. The toy tool sets and trucks were manufactured both in China and the U.S.
