Honda CRVs 2002-2006 Recalled Due to Fire Hazard

Comments Off

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced a new recall campaign, number S61, for the Honda CR-Vs, model years 2002 through 2006 due to a fire hazard.

The fire hazard is caused by the driver’s side power window switch—which can fail or melt. If the switch fails, it can overheat, smoke and cause fire. Apparently, the switch failing and fire can occur even when the vehicle is not in use.

Honda and the NHTSA are advising owners to park out of doors until the recall repair has been accomplished. Honda is notifying owners and Honda dealers will inspect and repair the switches free of charge.

Owners can obtain additional information about this recall by calling Honda’s toll-free number, 1(800)999-1009 or by contacting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on their Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1(888)327-4236 or by visiting the NHTSA website, www.safercar.gov
