Ford F-150 Recall Went From 150,000 to 1.2m

Comments Off

Ford has expanded its recall of F-150 pickup trucks from 150,000 to 1.2 million due to an electrical short that can lead to unexpected airbag deployment. The extended recall includes model years 2004 through 2006, and was resisted by Ford, which initially agreed to fix the first 150,000 recalled trucks. Ford has stated that it is not aware of any crashes caused by the defect, while the National Highways Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has said it knows of 269 cases of random airbag deployment in the trucks, with 98 resulting in injuries. Ford made production changes in the 2006 and 2007 model years to remedy the issue.

This is a potential safety defect. If you own one of these Ford trucks, please get your truck repaired a qualified Ford dealership.

P.S. – one wonders whether any other Ford model vehicles have the same airbag system.
