Electrocution Hazard! – ITT Water Tech. Recalls 21,000 Sumps and Pumps

Comments Off

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in cooperation with ITT Water Technology of Seneca Falls, New York, has issued a recall of 21,000 sump and effluent pumps due to the possibility of electric shock. If sump or effluent pumps have been installed that do not have a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI), this can pose an electrical shock or electrocution hazard if touched.

The affected pumps were sold from December 2009 to July 2010, under brand names Goulds, Red Jacket and Bell & Gossett Pumps for approximately $280 to $700. The pumps are sky blue or red in color and display the brand names, Goulds, Red Jacket or Bell & Gossett. The pumps were installed in new construction or as replacement pumps between December 2009 and July 2010. Photos and model numbers of the pumps can be seen on the CPSC.gov website at: www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml11/11086.html

If consumers suspect they may have one of the recalled pumps, DO NOT touch the pump, the water around it or the surrounding floor area, and refrain from using the pump immediately. To verify whether your pump is affected by this recall, immediately contact ITT Water Technology on the toll-free number (866)325-4204. If your pump is affected, a technician will be sent to your home to replace or repair the pump. Consumers may also visit the firm’s website at: www.goulds.com or www.redjacketwaterproducts.com or
